I recommend hotwire.com. You won’t know which hotel you’re staying at until you’ve finalized a price they’ve given you, but as long as you tell them where you’re willing to stay (and how far away from your destination point) then I guarantee you’ll be pleased with the results they come up with for you.

Check online for rates and then call the hotel’s 1-800 number. If you can’t find a 1-800 then try the hotel directly. Most hotels will beat the online prices, but don’t lie. They won’t even work with you if you lie, I work in the industry and I assure you the staff knows what the online rates generally are.
