What is the best way to get good hotel discounts?

I want to go to Corpus Christi on the Texas beach next week and I’m hoping that rates might be lower because of the oil spill hysteria. Thanks

I always say try sites like Orbitz.com or Travelocity.com. They often have discounts available. You can try retailmenot.com too for coupon codes either directly to hotels, or to sites like orbitz.com to use there. I’ve gone to Orbitz & seen nice discounted rates, then entered a promo code I found for an even bigger discount! Sometimes hotels also give discounts if you are a AAA member, etc. See if any memberships you have qualify you for discounts.
