if I travel from california to michigan, would I need a passport? and how long would it take to get there from michigan to california?

No, you will not need a passport because both are states in the USA. You only need a passport if you are leaving and/or entering the country (even going to Canada or Mexico). How long it would take depends on a lot of things, like where in Cali are you starting from, and where in Michigan are you going. Also, are you driving or flying?

Driving would take about 36 to 40 hours depending on the route you take and the traffic and weather.

    No, you don’t need a passport to go from one state in the US to another.I have flown from Detroit to Los Angeles in 5 hours.
