Mikey is wrong. We do have hostels in the USA. You can book them online. They are cheaper and usually do have internet. You might have to pay by the minute to use internet, but usually its pretty cheap. Hotels are more expensive than hostels, but they are usually quieter and more comfortable.
References :
Yes. Although we don't have hostels in the USA, we have Hotels and Motels that usually have WiFi internet capability. But if you don't want to go to a hotel, you can stop at some restaurants (ie McDonald's) and use their WiFi. Depending on if you have a WiFi receiver, you may just have to stick with the restaurants and carry around a LAN cable. And to answer your last part of the question, we do have Internet Cafe's, like Starbucks, or sometimes rest stops have WiFi.

Hope this helps!
