Where do i look for the best train and hotel deals?

i’m looking to go to Plymouth from Taunton in just under 2 weeks time for a couple of nights with my partner, she went with a friend about 9 months ago for a great deal of £38 including train fare and hotel for 3 nites, where can i find something similar? as she cant remember how her friend booked it.
apparently it was a travel lodge but i guess coz its coming up to june nowhere gonna be ceap

    Because she is lying. The ‘hotel’ was probably a hostel or a B&B.
