what are the best/cheap hotels to stay in in Los Angeles, California?
Posted by admin
im trying to plan a vacation to los angeles california for my family (mainly for my husband becasue this is his first trip) but im worried about being in a bad area so i need to find a nice hotel that really says "California" in a sense lol.
First decide where you want to stay. Downtown and Santa Monica are popular choices, but there are hotels all over the city. If you aren’t going to rent a car, then I would stay downtown.
Try hotels.com or other similar sites and compare prices.
Laws surrounding crossing state lines and staying in motels/hostels for 18 year old UK Citizen?
Posted by admin
Hi I’m 18 and from the UK and I want to hike from East to West coast of the USA, basically NY – LA. I’m just wondering about laws with crossing state lines and staying in motels/hostels at 18, as a lot of the time I get an impression that at 21 you are no longer considered a minor.
The route I plan to hike is: (This is rough and only early days at the moment)
(Start: New York City) New York – Pennsylvania – Ohio – Indiana – Illinois – Iowa – South Dakota – Wyoming – Idaho – Nevada – California (Finish: Los Angeles)
Any information would be appreciated.
There are no controls going from state to state. There will be a sign on the highway saying something like "Welcome to Pennsylvania" and the mile markers along the road will change, but that’s all.
However, some states require age 21 to rent a hotel room and some require only age 18. You need to use a real travel agency to ensure you will be able to check-in at hotels.
Do realize that New York to Los Angeles is at least 2800 miles/4480 kilometers. If somehow you were able to average 20 miles per day, 7 days per week it would take more than 6 months to hike from NY to LA.

Places to eat & sleep in Seattle, WA?
Posted by admin
I’ll be traveling to Seattle, WA in the coming week from California with very little money and I’m not too familiar with Washington. I’m trying to plan a few things out, like where to eat and sleep (preferably cheap). Any recommendations? Thank you.
What hostels are out there?
Are there any fast food mexican restaurants there (in cali we have taco bell and del taco)?
Any nice vegan restaurants?
If you are interested in staying in a hostel, the Green Tortoise is probably your best bet: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3939914-10775740?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripadvisor.com%2FHotel_Review-g60878-d1150690-Reviews-a_cja.10775740-a_cjp.3939914-m13092-Green_Tortoise_Hostel-Seattle_Washington.html
It is right across the street from the Pike Place Market that has numerous restaurants, bakeries and farmer’s stands where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables. You can easily graze your way through it. Seattle is very vegan friendly, so you will find most restaurants have vegan choices. http://www.squidoo.com/Seattle-Pike-Place-Market
There are Taco Bell’s in the Seattle area, but none that I can think of downtown. There are quite a few Taco Del Mars and Blue Water Grills if you are looking for Mexican food – I don’t think either is as cheap as Taco Bell, but you get more food for your money.
