How do I get the best deals on 5 star hotel in vegas?

Posted by admin

I’m having a girl night out with 4 of my gf in sep 20-23. Since we’re splitting the $ we want to stay at a 5 star resort but we want to get the best deals there is. Any tips on getting the best prices out of them? I’m flying out of PDX. Appreciate any tips you can give me.

Well I have been just checking this out recently. If you go to priceline.com and look up your dates then check the 5 star tab. You will see the regular price for the Venetian. It is the only 5 star hotel listed with priceline. Today it is listed at $253 per night plus tax.

You can bid (name your price) and see if you can get it for less, I would try half if it accepts your bid you bought the room if not it will suggest the amount to increase.

I have booked rooms in the past and when there is only one hotel listed I tend to get it. However they could spring another hotel in the mix although if you request a 5 star that’s what you will get.

You can also pick the approximate area like the strip/Fremont street are considered one area.

Also for your flight go to www.kayak.com this will search the entire web for the best deals and post who has them, as of today US Airways has the lowest price from Portland to Vegas at $224 per person this include tax although this may not have the timing you want.

have fun and good luck

Do I need my green card to travel from colorado to california?

Posted by admin

Ok so my sister’s quinceanera is in June. I lost my green card and won’t be getting it for three to six months. So my question is if I can travel from Colorado to California with just my drivers license? Thanks for all the help.

As long as you plan on going back to Colorado you should be fine. With the green card you don’t need to have it to travel to other states, but if you’re changing residences it would be wise to have it before moving.

need advice on massive backpacking trip through California?

Posted by admin

I’m taking a gap year before I go back to University and me and some friends have decided we basically want to backpack california for almost two months. Is this possible? How many people do this? is it relatively safe?

I’m a huge history buff, a musician, and an aspiring actor so I’m very interested in the culture and the arts of the Los Angleles area. Would there always be something to do? Or do you think after a while we would get tired of our surroundings. I’m also what I like to call a very "sketchy" traveller, a year ago we went to a place in Canada called Banff, and instead of getting a hostel, we would just set up a tent in one of the bushes we found. Pretty irresponsible I know, but in a pinch, would it work in CA? Please, whoever has done this before give me all the info you can because I need to know we’re making the right decision.

Yes, it is possible and safe to backpack California, depending on where you go.

If you want to do backcountry backpacking, California is a great destination. We have the Pacific Crest Trail, the Tahoe Rim Trail, the John Muir Trail, and more. If you are interested, there are lots of books about these trails.

For backpacking in cities, sure, you can stay at hostels. I personally can’t imagine how I would spend 2 months in LA unless I was just going to different restaurants and nightclubs every night, but I’m not really a big fan of that city. If I had 2 months to travel in California, I would try to hit up the cities (including San Diego and San Francisco), the national parks (Yosemite, Redwood, Sequoia, King’s Canyon, Lassen…) and other beautiful places like the Monterey Bay and Lake Tahoe. But that’s just me.

I don’t know about Canada, but in America people take private property pretty seriously. If you are caught camping on private land, and get caught, you could get arrested and/or chased away by a crazed rancher with a shotgun. Even on government land, you almost always need a permit for overnight stays, and could get a citation and fine if caught. Urban areas of California have large homeless populations, so if you sleep on the street or in a city park you might end up on the wrong side of a turf war.

Something else to consider is that California has pretty terrible public transportation. Amtrak and Greyhound will get you to some places, and San Francisco has a decent subway system, but in general you need a car to get around. The link in the answer below is great for finding campsites, but you will need a car to get to most of them. And you mentioned gap year, so I am assuming you are around age 18 – which means it will be near impossible to rent a car. Most car rental companies will only rent to people 25 and older. Some will rent to 18 year olds with steep fees.

Am i safe to travel from canada to california?

with all the swine flu outbreak is it really safe to travel from canada to san diego california? whenever i do travel i tent to get run down and more susceptible to illness. We already booked these tickets in Feb and are leaving end of May. Any thoughts?

As safe as anytime. This "outbreak" is very small, just a lot of hype about it. You have a greater chance of winning the lottery than catching the swine flu There are tons of other illnesses you are more likely to get. This is likely to be all over by the end of May.

what hotels in california can you be 18?

what hotels in LA can you make reservations for and check in at the age of 18?

I’m not familiar with any in LA, but I’m sure there are some. You’ll have to call around.

If you are looking for a hotel by Disneyland where you can check in under 21, there are 3 that I know of:
The Menage
The Clarion
Red Roof Inn
The Menage has the best location, almost directly under the Disney fireworks. If you have a sensitive car alarm, the percussion of the fireworks will most likely set it off. It’s hilarious how the car alarms accompany the fireworks. The mist pool is a great place to watch them on a summer night. Keep in mind it’s an older Holiday Inn with an extensive remodel, and you have to pay for parking in their lot. However, the main feature here is the proximity to Disneyland, and the fact that you can check in if you are 18 or older.
