Planning a trip to Southern California , Can anyone help me :)?
Posted by admin
Hello everyone that is helping me out
i would like to thank everyone and each one of you. I will tell you a little about myself , im a 22 male student that lives in Toronto Ontario Canada. Im planning a trip to Southern California for next june this will be my first trip ouside Canada and would like to take a trip before my final year of police foundations.
I would really like to visit Los Angeles , San Fransico and Oakland and aswell as San Diego so if you would be able to tell me about which city like how many hours it would take to get to each one from Los Angeles , i would like to travel by coach bus and how much would it be , i heard that its cheaper in the U.S then it is in Canada . Also are hostels pretty cheap too . I know this might sound really werid to you guys coming from someone that is traveling but i saw on CNN about 2 months ago how you can go on this Gang tour around LA if you know any information about that tour would you be able to give me more on it thanks
I really love the hispanic culutre and would love to learn about it but because i live in Canada we dont really have a hispanic population and i would love to try some south of the border food and shop at stores that would sell stuff from Mexico and other hispanic countries so if you know of any areas in any of the cities that have a larger hispanic population plzzzz let me know . Ive been doing alot of thinking because i will be visiting San Diego is it safe to cross the border into Tijuana ? i know because of the drug war has it gotten really bad lately ? like i said before canada does not show whats going on in Mexico on our news. Is there any city buses that cross into Tijuana or can you just walk across and when u want to return back to the U.S is it hard to get back ? also how is the public transit in Los Angeles and the other cities are they 24 hours and stuff. Anyways thank you very much for everyones help andplease feel free to add any places i should check out when im down in Cali. ohh one more thing because i want to become a police officer would it be possible to meet an LAPD officer and get your pic with them like they do in NYC
You will probably find the trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and again from Los Angeles to San Diego MUCH more comfortable, and enjoyable on "Amtrak’ (the U.S equivalent of VIA Rail), especially on the L.A. to San Diego leg. Greyhound (the bus) contracts all their schedules on this leg to Mexican based bus companies who’s drivers and equipment may not meet U.S. safety standards.
Constant battles between the drug/people smugglers, and the Mexican authorities make visiting border towns extremely dangerous. The governments of both countries warn tourists to stay away. The "BART" system in San Francisco is pretty good, but the public transportation network in the L.A. area is VERY slow.
Most LAPD officers patrol in cars, but if you find one on the street I’m sure you can find one that will take a picture with you. Why not stop in at the CHP office (California Highway Patrol). It’s under the I-10 / I-110 interchange (a couple of their female officers are real hotties). The CHP tan & blue uniform looks a lot nicer than LAPD’s whatever color it is.

How long would it take for a pioneer to travel from Maine to California in a horse-drawn carrage?
Posted by admin
PLEASE HELP! I am doing a history report on a pioneer and i need to know how long it would take a family to travel in a horse-drawn carrage from Maine to San Fransisco, California.
I found this :
Mileage the wagon train travels each day:
The wagon train will usually cover between 10 and 18 miles daily. This will depend on the location for the evening campsites. Average daily mileage is about 15 miles per day, with the most miles traveled in the morning when it is cooler.
Total estimated distance from Bangor Maine to San Francisco : 3332.00 miles
So, travelling approx 15 miles day, it would take almost 222 days to make the trip. Or 7 1/2 months
A horse drawn carriage might take slightly less time than a wagon, but it’s a close approximation

Many hotels were already famous before movies made them even more popular. But here are some:
Beverly Wilshire (Pretty Woman)
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (countless movies)
The Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel (even more movies)
The Beverly Hills Hotel (Beverly Hills Cop and others)
The Westin Bonaventure (Rain Man, Pretty in Pink) Los Angeles
The Hotel Del Coronado (Some Like It Hot)- San Diego

I’m looking for a really really cheap place to stay around san jose airport in California.. closer the better, but cheaper better yet!
Can anyone advise for a good place?
Only other thing of concern is maybe internet access/wireless
Motel 6 is less than a mile from the airport about $60 a night and it has internet. The cheapest place is
Days Inn but it is 6 miles from the airport has internet at $47 per night but there’s no shuttle to the airport.

Which travel site provides the best vacation/flight/hotel deals?

I am taking my family on a trip in Aug and we are planning on stopping in NYC for one night. Any reccomendations on affordable hotels I should check out, or a website that has good deals?
I have checked every site on the web (or at least most of the big ones anyway) and the two best I have found are:
http://www.hotwire.com/index.jsp?sid=S20&bid=B256273&kid=K0000001&mid=M01
http://travel.priceline.com/default.asp?rdr=1&session_key=420011AC5C0011AC20080330164841651bc0943022
With Priceline you have to bid but you can get some incredible prices. I got a 4 star in NYC last November for $125/night (The normal price was $450/night). Check them out and you’ll see what I mean.
Interstate travel of Chupakabras from California to New York?
Posted by admin
I am traveling to California in a few weeks. I plan on bringing back a Chupakabra with me to raise here in New York. Are there are government regulations that mandate how many I can bring back on the airplane? Do they need vaccinations? Please respond if you have any experience with this animal.
Uh-Uh…Chupakabras are an endangered species. It is illegal for a private citizen to own one. A zoo director or someone who runs a wildlife preserve can usually get a permit to keep a Chupakabra in their private home for the purpose of nursing a sick or injured one back to health, or to raise a bunch of orphaned cubs. No airline will allow one on board without a wildlife permit from all states involved in the transportation path.
In your case, you would need such a permit from BOTH the state of California, and the state of New York. If you flight has a stopover in Houston, you will also need a permit from the state of Texas (in case the ground crew accidentally lets the Chupakabra out of the cage).
Unfortunately, California has not issued any such permits since the scandal in 1968 involving poachers clubbing baby Chupakabras to make luxurious coats for Hollywood celebrities.
Your best bet would be to cross the border into Mexico, and pick one up there. They are very common across the southern border and are considered pests. There are many people there who would actually PAY you to take the Chupakabras off their hands.
When you cross back into the States, make sure your crossing point is in Arizona or Texas. Those states will cheerfully issue you wildlife transportation permits so you can take your new Chupakabra back to New York.
Happy Hunting!
